Macquarie Geotechnical is seeking applicants for a Geophysicist with a strong client focus to work on road, rail and mine infrastructure projects in New South Wales, Victoria & Queensland with a minimum of 3 years field experience.
The position location is based out of our Sydney office with travel required to onsite project work. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities
- Manage and undertake Geophysical surveys including Seismic Refraction, MASW, Electrical Resistivity, Magnetics, Ground Penetrating Radar, Electromagnetics and Gravity.
- Manage and undertake downhole geophysical logging surveys including televiewers, Full wave sonic and cross hole seismic.
- Process, interpret and report on site data.
- Utilise Geotechnical and Geophysical data to produce 2D and 3D Models.
- Liaise with clients, both internally and externally for the purpose of providing technical support and advice. This includes responding to and writing of expressions of interests, proposals, and other bids.
- Prepare and introduce training activities, mentoring, and transferring knowledge to other geophysicists, engineers/scientists.
To be successful for the position you must have the following experience:
- Bachelor Degree of Science majoring in Geophysics or Geology
- Minimum 3 years’ experience.
- Strong technical report writing skills.
- Numerical, analytical and observation skills.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in geophysical acquisition and analytical software including but not limited to: Rayfract, ParkSeis, Oasis Montaj (Geosoft), Res2DInv, Seis Imager 2D, ReflexW and WellCAD.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- An interest in developing both technical and project management skills.
- A current driver licence.
- Valid working rights in Australia.
