Austek Roads is expanding its services into ACT and we’re looking for an experienced WHS Officer to join our dynamic team based in Hume, ACT. We deliver high-quality asphalt surfacing, patching, and civil projects across the ACT and surrounding regions, with a strong reputation for reliability, performance, and customer service.

 

The WHS Officer will provide leadership to field crews, regarding all works HSEQ related and to assist management in overseeing operations from a HSEQ perspective and ensure policies/procedures are adhered to as far as reasonably practicable. 

 

What you'll be doing

• Manage day to day activities of work crews from a HSEQ perspective.
• Carry out all Health & Safety / Environmental reporting requirements
• Carry out regular on site crew/depot audits (frequent travel required)
• Ensure monthly WHS reporting is provided to National WHS Manager
• Proactive use of safety systems in place (Donesafe/Smarter Safety
• Facilitate/Attend Qrtly WHS meeting, via teams or in person
• Ensuring project deadlines are met where applicable.
• Conducting WHS reviews
• Securing growth opportunities and initiating new projects
• Show regular on site leadership and presence - both day/nightshift
• Assist with contractor onboarding/monitoring
• Assist with ISO accreditation management/maintenance
• Ensure timely closure and accurate incident investigations

What we're looking for

• Minimum Certificate IV WHS
• Current Drivers Licence 
• Vehicle/Allowance offered
• Diploma qualifications desired, not essential
• Demonstrated ability in proactively building relationships with key stakeholders / team members
• Understanding key site requirements and legislation in relation to WHS and client requests
• Auditing experience
• Previous experience in similar role
• Microsoft Office suite
• Basic business administration principals.
• Ability to work within a team.
