JLE Group is seeking an experienced Technical Service Manager to join our Manufacturing & Hire division. Based in Newcastle, this role offers strategic leadership across HV/LV technical service operations, hire assets, and field maintenance activities.
About the role
The Technical Services Manager is responsible for leading and managing the delivery of technical service operations across HV/LV electrical systems, hire assets, and field-based maintenance activities, ensuring safe, compliant, efficient, and commercially viable service delivery while driving technician performance and supporting business growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee technical service activities (maintenance, breakdowns, commissioning, installations).
- Plan/schedule technicians, subcontractors, and resources to meet SLAs/deadlines.
- Maintain workflow control from job initiation to close-out.
- Provide technical guidance, fault finding, and diagnostics across HV/LV systems and hire equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, electrical regulations, and company procedures.
- Lead, mentor, and develop technicians/apprentices through performance reviews, training, and competency plans.
- Manage workforce planning, utilization, productivity, and technician development.
- Act as key client contact, provide technical solutions, and identify revenue opportunities.
- Manage job costing, profitability, quoting, tendering, pricing, and financial performance.
- Drive WHS compliance, safety initiatives, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
- Maintain service records, asset registers, compliance documentation, and support ISO audits.
- Oversee service systems, workflows, reporting tools, and preventative maintenance programs (PPM).

What you'll bring
Essential:
- Electrical trade qualification (HV/LV preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in service delivery or maintenance operations.
- Commercial acumen (job costing, margins, budgeting).
- Knowledge of WHS and compliance requirements including Australian standards.
Desirable:
- Well-developed management skills such as planning, organising, and evaluation.
- Understanding and interpreting relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.
- 7â12 years' experience in the trade.
- Contract training (GC21/AS4000).
- OH&S training.
