JLE Group is seeking an experienced Switchboard Electrician to join our Manufacturing & Hire division. Based in Orange, this role offers stable workshop-based work building High Voltage electrical equipment for major construction project, renewables & data centres.
About the role
The Switchboard Electrician is responsible for the assembly, wiring, and testing of electrical switchboards, distribution boards, and related LV/MV systems, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with AS/NZS standards, project specifications, and company quality requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assemble, wire, and fit-off electrical switchboards and distribution boards.
- Install components including breakers, relays, busbars, cabling systems, and protection devices.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Complete panel layout and internal wiring in line with design documentation.
- Conduct testing including continuity testing, insulation resistance (IR), functional and operational checks.
- Identify and rectify defects or non-conformances and assist with FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and site commissioning where required.
- Complete QA documentation, ITPs, and test records.
- Ensure all work complies with AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules, AS/NZS 61439 Switchboard Standards.
- Maintain accurate redline drawings and as-built documentation.
- Follow all WHS procedures, SWMS, and safe work practices.
- Apply lockout/tagout and isolation procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
- Assist in process improvements and standardisation.
- Mentor apprentices and junior trades where required.

What you'll bring
Essential:
- NSW Electrical Licence.
- Electrical Trade Qualification.
- Strong understanding of AS/NZS 3000 and relevant industry standards.
- Experience in switchboard manufacturing.
- Knowledge of WHS and compliance requirements including Australian standards.
Desirable:
- Well-developed management skills such as planning, organising, and evaluation.
- Understanding and interpreting relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.
- 7â12 years' experience in the trade.
