Senior Accountant - Maternity Leave Cover

Role Summary:

The Canberra Asphalt business within the Construction Materials segment requires a Senior Accountant for a 12 month period for maternity leave cover.

Key responsibilities:

Accounting

  • Assisting in managing accounting team and all aspects of accounting functions
  • Reviewing weekly payroll

  • Tax compliance preparation and lodgements including BAS, IAS, Payroll tax, FBT in coordination with Maas Tax department

Reporting

  • Preparation of monthly consolidated P & L, balance sheets
  • Assisting in preparing EOM reporting package
  • Assisting in preparing annual budget and rolling forecast
  • Assisting in interpreting financial and non-financial data, providing meaningful commercial insights and recommendations to add value to the company

 The Ideal Candidate Requirements:

  • 4+ years’ experience of relevant experience with demonstrative skills in financial reporting, tax compliance and payroll
  • Degree qualified and CA/CPA membership
  • Strong technical accounting skill set and an understanding of accounting standards, tax regulation and relevant legislation
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, and the ability to liaise effectively with diverse external and internal stakeholders
  • High-level organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload and time management skills under limited direction and supervision
  • A clear understanding of the professional ethical and legal responsibilities relevant to the position
  • Sound judgement, problem-solving ability, and business acumen
  • Great attention to detail, work collaboratively in a team based environment
  • The ability to maintain discretion and manage confidentiality
