Role Summary:
Reporting to COO CM, the Safety Manager (CM) is responsible for proactively promoting a positive health and safe culture in the Construction Materials segment by implementing the following:
Performing the delivery of integrated HSEQ management systems and processes within the business segment to build a mature safety culture, influencing positive safety behaviours to prevent harm and achieve organisational objectives.
Assisting the CM leadership team to develop, manage and monitor their HSEQ performance.
The delivery of diverse and contemporary health and safety approaches and practices within the Construction Materials business.
The role consults with the Group Health & Safety Manager, Business Unit Managers and leads HSEQ officers/advisors to identify priorities and is expected to provide high quality outcomes within established priorities as directed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the HSEQ function within the CM business segment to ensure HSEQ management systems and practices meet legislative requirements, ISO accreditation, Group requirements and align to industry best practice.
- Implement/oversee training to upskill both coordinators and site personnel to better carry the HSEQ responsibility at site level.
- Development and Implementation of CM HSEQ systems in accordance with MGH corporate objectives.
- Responsible for CM’s HSE processes and procedures to ensure the Company maintains its accreditations (AS/ISO 9001, AS/ISO14001, AS/ISO 45001) and meets MGH Group standards and objectives.
- Responsible for management of and liaison with HSE auditors to acquire/maintain CM’s accreditations.
- Highly collaborative role engaging with all levels of the organisation to achieve strategic objectives. Provide expert HSEQ knowledge and coaching to key stakeholders to support the implementation of Construction Materials and MGH corporate HSEQ plans and priorities.
- Support and coach Managers and HSEQ advisors to ensure legislative, ISO, Group and where applicable client requirements are meet.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- The role requires comprehensive knowledge and understanding in WHS Legislation (Acts, Regulations and Codes of Practice), AS/ISO 9001, AS/ISO 14001, AS/ISO45001, Risk Management
- Knowledge and technical skills in risk management from their extensive work experience as a qualified specialist; and experience the development and implementation of HSE management systems
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar HSE/Q role preferred
- Diploma of WHS or related discipline and sound knowledge of associated HSE legislation, regulations and standards. Relevant and / or equivalent industry experience will be considered.
- Experience working on major construction projects is highly regarded.
- Strong stakeholder management experience, with the ability to build relationships and influence people at all levels of the organisation.
