About the role:
The key role of the Quarry Operations Manager is to provide support for the Quarry managers across the business including delivery of key capital upgrades, OIP initiatives, and development of key positions in the quarry business. This position will also be responsible for implementing new operational initiatives, driving standardization and embracing and encouraging a "lean" culture whilst improving the operational performance of the quarry business.
The Quarry Operations Manager is a full-time position (flexible location - Rockhampton, Gladstone or Brisbane, dependent on suitable candidate) with regular intrastate travel across several work locations essential.
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Manage daily operations with a key focus on improvement
- Work closely with Quarry Managers to achieve the efficient and cost-effective operations whilst meeting customer service requirements
- Demonstrate effective leadership to ensure a highly motivated team
- Be positive and initiative-taking in your approach to the coaching, mentoring, and training of relevant staff and identify and develop staff within the department for the benefit of the organisation and to meet future growth and needs of the company.
- Drive customer relationships to ensure suitable outcomes
- Prepare reports as required on work in progress, costs, variation, market trends and competitor activities
- Report monthly in terms performance against KPI’s and budget trends
- Assist with the development of the operational budgets for all relevant sites
- Supporting quarry development and ongoing production plans
- Commitment to Regional Safety standards with demonstrated safety leadership behaviours
Required skills and experience:
- Must hold a QLD SSE ticket
- Background in mining, quarrying and delivery processes
- Background in Lean manufacturing
- Proven management, leaderships practices and planning ability
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Well-developed leadership and team building experience
- Analytical and strategic thinking skills
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have a 1-2 mindset.
- Current driver’s licence
