Insurance Assessor
Maas Constructions are currently seeking a motivated Insurance Assessor to join our high performing team servicing the Bathurst region.
Position Summary
Field based role assessing damage to insured properties to compile concise and accurate builders’ assessment reports and repair budgets for the insurers to review. Budgets accompanying the assessment reports will be compiled using sound industry knowledge, best practice and submitted in formats agreed upon by the business. Use up-to-date market trade rates to ensure all potential costs are accounted for and initial estimates can be achieved during the repairs.
Supporting the business to meet its repair cycle time targets, Assessors are also responsible for ensuring variation budgets are complete in a timely manner when requested so that repairs on site can continue to completion.
Responsibilities
- Travel to, and conduct on-site inspections within set timeframes to assess the scope of work required
- Accurately complete assessment reports, scope of works, and repair budgets within a timely manner
- Liaising with insured customers, insurance companies, brokers, trades and the internal team to effectively drive positive outcomes
- Assist with maintaining the trades schedule or rates book to enable the business to estimate accurately and consistently
- Periodically review assessment report and budgets of other assessor(s) to provide feedback and guidance
- Follow various policies/processes based on claim type/insurance company
- Champion a culture within the team that promotes strong collaboration and support for each other resulting in a collective effort to meet insurer KPIs
Role Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in building and construction industry
- Minimum 1 year experience assessing in insurance building sector preferred
- Excellent communication and organisation skills
- Advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to use technology and systems to execute role efficiently
- Be open minded and willing to be challenged
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and Australian Standards
- Willing to travel and spend prolonged periods of time working out of the office
- Current Unrestricted Driver’s License
