Role Summary:
As the Financial Accountant, you will assist in providing financial and commercial support to the Regional Business Group. This role will include fixed asset accounting, general accounting tasks, month-end accounting duties, payroll accounting tasks, and will also support the consolidation of group results.
The Financial Accountant will work closely with Shared Services, Group Finance and various Operational stakeholders to support the development and implementation of consistent business processes across the various Construction Materials businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
Fixed Assets:
- Fixed Asset accounting responsibilities
- Maintaining all fixed asset reconciliations
- Supporting the capex reporting process, and engaging with asset managers
Monthly Accounting Duties:
- Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Monthly GST journals and administration
- Assisting with payroll accounting
- Assisting with intercompany consolidations and eliminations
- Accounting for holding companies, processing monthly journals and reporting
- Subcontractor reconciliations and accruals
- Group accounting responsibilities
- Bank Guarantee register
Royalties:
- Maintaining royalties register
- Managing external royalty submission, maintaining appropriate records and reconciliations
- Manage Voluntary Planning obligations
Adhoc:
- Support broader finance team with other general accounting responsibilities
- Support finance led process improvement initiatives
To be successful in this role you will need:
- University degree in Accounting or similar
- CA or CPA in process
- Previously demonstrated experience in commerce or professional firm, construction materials industry highly regarded
- Experience with ERP systems and MS Office
- 5+ years of experience working in a similar financial role
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to think laterally
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Highly organised with an ability to prioritise and adapt to changing demands
